Have you been working to look great by exercising and eating right for years on end? Yet, do you find that you lack those washboard abs that you’ve been working toward? If so, then you might be interested in learning more about abdominal etching. Abdominal etching is a type of surgical procedure meant to give your abdominal muscles more definition. This type of plastic surgery removes fat in order to accentuate some of the muscle and create a “six-pack abs” appearance.
The Perfect Candidate for Abdominal Etching
People who have exercised enough to have well-toned abdominal muscles or those who have already gone through tummy tuck surgeries or liposuction would be the perfect candidate for undergoing an abdominal etching operation. Those who have undergone this type of surgery will need to keep a healthy diet and continue exercising regularly since the longevity of abdominal etching depends highly on the lifestyle changes of the patients. This type of surgery can be used among both men and women.
What to Expect When Undergoing the Abdominal Etching Procedure
You’ll be glad to learn that this type of surgery is conducted as an out-patient process. The abdominal surgery takes only about one hour to complete and it will be done either with local or general anesthesia. Before the surgery starts, you’ll see the surgeon outlining the abdominal muscles in order to follow the lines during the operation as guidance. Small incisions are formed in the typical creases of the abdomen. Then a flexible tube called a cannula is inserted in order to take out excess fat in the right areas above the abdominal muscles. There may be four or five scars that remain after the surgery. However, the scars are very small and are about one-eighth or one-quarter of an inch in length.
What to Expect During the Recovery Process
For several weeks after the surgery, patients will have to wear a compression garment. The compression garment can be removed during showering or bathing, but should stay on all other times. Some side effects from this type of surgery include some pain, bruising, and swelling. However, with rest, care, and pain medication, these side effects can be minimized. During the recovery process, you should not lift more than 10 pounds and be sure to limit exercise until your abdominal muscles have healed. Do not put any heavy objects or pressure on the abdominal muscles during recovery. It may take up to two months for your body to heal and before your abdominal muscle results or six-pack abs will be visible.
The Costs of Abdominal Etching
You’ll find that there are a number of different issues that will affect the cost of abdominal etching for each patient. Usually, the amount this procedure costs varies. The factors affecting cost include the type of surgical facility and costs associated with anesthesiology, the amount of experience the surgeon has, the region that you live in within your country/continent, the liposuction technique, and even the amount of fat that needs to be removed.
